Milton is one of those towns that sneaks up on you—I mean that in the best way.
The first time I visited a couple of years back, I expected a quiet little spot, maybe a nice park or two. But what I found was a charming town bursting with history, as well as scenic trails, foodie gems, unique farms, and quirky markets.
Every year, I kept coming back—sometimes to visit Rattlesnake Point, other times to grab Jay’s Nanaimo and Espresso Flake ice cream (yum!) or pick apples at Chudleigh’s.
So, if you’re planning a Milton, here’s a guide to the top things you should do—these will make you fall for this town just like I did!
Go hiking at Rattlesnake Point

If you’re looking for one of the “face cards” of Milton, then definitely go to Rattlesnake Point. Here, you’ll be surrounded by towering ancient cedar trees that are hundreds of years old—just imagine them blazing with fiery hues during autumn!
Rock climbers would love it here. Just be sure to use the installed anchors—no wrapping ropes around the trees.
If hiking’s your thing, it would be almost sacrilegious to miss the Nassagaweya Canyon Trail—a 4.5-hour trek to Crawford Lake Conservation. Another option is the Buffalo Crag Trail, offering 2 paths: one with cliffside views and one that’s stroller-friendly.
And if you’re all about that camping life, this area has campsites year-round. You can spend the day hiking or climbing, then kick back by the fire at night with toasted hot dogs and sticky s’mores.
Pro Tip:
While you don’t have to book in advance, reserving your spot online will save you money on gate fees. Plus, it guarantees you won’t show up to a full lot!
Hang out at Hilton Falls

Hilton Falls Conservation Area is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy nature without feeling like they’ve signed up for a workout. True to its name, the main highlight is the stunning waterfalls at the Old Mill Ruins.
Outside the falls, you’ll find cozy campfires, which we typically use for warming up or roasting hot dogs. You can also camp out at Beaver Dam Trail, a popular spot for families, hikers, and mountain bikers.
Now, if you want to go fishing or have a picnic, go to the Hilton Falls Reservoir. Just make sure to cast from the shore since boats are not allowed here.
And no worries if you’re bringing your little one. There’s a stroller-friendly entrance on the right side of the red trail’s trailhead.
Pro Tip:
Don’t miss a winter trip here—the falls freeze into a stunning icy wonder, and you can go cross-country skiing on the trails. As a bonus, the chickadees still come out, so bring some seeds and let them eat right from your hand!

In Milton, Springridge Farm is practically synonymous with family-friendly. It’s the perfect spot to bring your kids (or nephews and nieces!).
Open every spring and summer, this working farm grows everything, from strawberries and cherries to pumpkins and corn—they even harvest honey. We recommend visiting during harvest time to catch seasonal treats fresh from their fields.
Kids would go nuts at Fun Farmyard, where they could ride the tractor-drawn wagon or watch a singing chicken show. There’s also a pedal tractor track, a spiderweb climber, a giant sandbox, and tube slides.
No trip here is complete without stopping by the barn market. Housed in a 19th-century barn, it’s packed with local goodies like homemade preserves, fresh produce, home decor, and of course, their famous Classic Cherry Pie.
Pro Tip:
Entry to Springridge Farm’s bakery and market is free, but the Fun Farmyard has a small fee. If you plan on visiting multiple times, grab a season pass—it’s worth it!

If you’ve always wanted to ride vintage streetcars, then Halton County Radial Railway is a must-visit. This area is also perfect for those with kids.
The museum operates on two km of track, which conveniently stops at an ice cream shop (score!) and a collection of streetcars. The rides run every 20-30 minutes.
You know what’s cool? The older the streetcar, the smoother the ride! At least, that’s based on my experience.
Throughout the chill ride, the conductor shares fun facts about each streetcar, the history of electric railways, as well as the museum. As a bonus, you can ride as many times as you want.
Pro Tip:
Don’t forget to ask the conductor to punch your ticket! It’s a fun little souvenir that’ll help you remember your awesome vintage railway experience.

Crawford Lake is a meromictic lake, meaning its layers of water don’t mix, preserving everything that comes to the bottom. Scientists even discovered ancient corn pollen here, which led them to dig up an Attawandaron village!
There’s a stroller-friendly boardwalk trail around the lake, giving you stunning water views. And if you catch a scientist or two studying the sediment, make sure to give them a shout-out.
In addition to the lake, its Iroquoian village is a must-see—nearly every local kid has taken a school field trip here. It gives us a glimpse into the daily lives of people who lived here long ago, and it even holds workshops and fire-starting demos.
If you happen to visit during spring, check out the sugar-making demo, based on how the First Nations people traditionally made maple sugar. You’ll even get to taste delicious maple treats afterward!
Pro Tip:
No matter when you visit, don’t miss Crawford Lake’s wood carving trail! This Insta-worthy spot is filled with huge sculptures of at-risk species.

Its network of trails winds up the escarpment for breathtaking views, while below, you’ll find Kelso’s Cove—a giant floating waterpark. Add in a lifeguarded beach, canoe and kayak rentals, and a family-friendly boardwalk, and you’re set for a day of fun!
You can also attend the Fall into Nature Festival and bask in the gorgeous fall colors. You can even ride the chair lift for maximum viewing pleasure.

As a skiing and snowboarding resort, Glen Eden is on the smaller side, but it still offers a 70-meter vertical drop and 13 ski runs. And forget long drives to bigger resorts—this one’s only 10 minutes away from downtown Milton.
The area has 45 acres of terrain and 100% snowmaking. It also has five lifts so you can get back up the hill quickly, plus terrain parks if you’re in the mood to freestyle.
If you’re new to skiing and snowboarding, then this spot is the perfect place to learn. They offer different skiing programs for various levels (Core, Academy, and Competitive), so you’ll be hitting the slopes in no time.
What I love here is night skiing under the stars—it’s a fantastic way to enjoy the slopes. And if you don’t really like skiing or snowboarding, tubing is another fun option!
Pro Tip:
Planning a weekend visit to Glen Eden?
The parking lot can fill up quickly, and the lines can get quite long, so make sure to arrive early!

If you love farm-to-table products (well, who doesn’t?), their boutique shop carries sourced honey, homemade teas, and of course, essential oils.
The best time to visit depends on what’s in bloom—lavender peaks in July, while sunflowers take the spotlight later in the summer. Check their Instagram for real-time updates on what’s blossoming!

If you’re visiting with a friend or partner and only want one bouquet, we suggest getting one admission ticket and one Build-A-Bouquet ticket to save money.

Originally opened as a family apple farm in 1967, Chudleigh’s has grown into an entertainment farm. You and the kids can enjoy tractor rides, apple-picking, and yummy farm treats.
During warmer months, kids will love the giant slides, farm animals, and nature trails. Summer nights also offer live music festivals and food events—a crowd favorite is their delicious fire-roasted corn on the cob.
Fall is when this farm really shines—apple-picking, anyone? You can stroll through their orchard and fill your baskets with apples—just note that they cannot guarantee that this activity is always available.
Afterward, you can stop by their market for their signature Apple Blossom. Or you can grab a Chocolate Lava Cake instead.
Pro Tip:
If you can’t make it to the farm, you can still get a taste of Chudleigh’s by visiting Blossom Cafe in downtown Milton. This cozy spot serves their famous apple treats, along with cider and other farm-fresh goodies.
