The other day, I was catching up with a friend who just got back from a killer weekend on the slopes. He was all smiles and telling me about the great time he had—no cold toes and zero gear failures.
Naturally, I wanted in on that action so I asked where he got his setup, half-expecting gear like that to cost a fortune. But then, he let me in on his secret—it’s all about finding the right spots for quality ski gear at great deals.
So, I did some digging, talked to a few ski fanatics, and scoured the city to create a list of the best ski stores in Toronto.
If you’re ready to take your winter game to the next level, these stores are your go-to. Trust me, they’ll have you shredding like a pro!
How much does ski gear cost in Toronto?
Ski gear in Toronto costs $500 to upwards of $2000, depending on the brand, quality, and type of gear you’re looking for.
A basic setup including skis, bindings, boots, and poles can start at around $500 and go up to $2,000 for more premium gear.
Winter apparel like jackets, pants, and gloves can add another $300 to $1,000 to your total.

But it doesn’t stop there—they also have top-notch tuning services for your skis and snowboards so you’re sure they’ll run smoothly and hold onto the ice better.
However, we did notice that their gear selection is a bit pricey compared to other stores.
Staff are extremely knowledgeable
“Was recommended this place by a knowledgeable ski friend when needing to get new boots, skis and bindings, and I’m so glad I went here rather than a SportChek. The staff are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to ski gear and boot fittings, and are super patient and friendly to make sure you get what you need and that it all fits properly. Prices are no different than what you would pay elsewhere or online and the real human touch made the trip here well worth it. Will be coming back here for sure for any ski related matters!”

The staff know a ton about all the sports
“Great shop! The staff know a ton about all the sports. They have different staff help with different categories… a specific snowboard staff, a specific downhill ski staff member, someone who specializes in bike… so you know you’re getting help from people who really do the sports. Their service department is also great! I get my boards and bikes serviced here every year. Thanks Northline!”

No-pressure environment made me feel comfortable
“Mac was awesome helping me buy full snowboarding gear. His experience as a snowboarder and the no-pressure environment made me feel comfortable in making the right choice. For example, based on our conversation I was presented with 3 boards and thoroughly explained their advantages and differences. His answers to my (many) questions were full of industry knowledge, anecdotal and riding experience. Patient, great service throughout. As I went on Black Friday I was also able to score some items at a great discount. Overall, definitely recommend.”

Their ski gear collection features carefully selected equipment and winter apparel from trusted brands like Head, Dynastar, and Columbia—no matter what you decide to get, quality isn’t a concern here!
That said, their gear selection is more limited compared to other stores, so it might not be the best place for a full gear setup.
Great pricing, great service, and perfect staff
“Came here not too long ago for a wax originally spoke over the phone since it was a last minute job I needed it done same day he discussed that they do really good work and for cheaper the other places and helped me choose the tuning service was an extra fee but got the job done to perfection. Hit the slopes and the board has never felt better doing runs. Honestly great pricing, great service, and perfect staff who were quick, efficient and were easily able to have conversation and joke around with. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!”

Very good store
“A trustworthy store! I just bought my skis and poles from here. I did wait a long time because today is Monday, and there was only one clerk who was familiar with skis. He was serving a lady, and I could tell he had extensive knowledge and wanted to help her choose the suitable boots for her. So the waiting time didn’t trouble me as anyone would expect to get such a service. And then, William helped me a lot. He is so enthusiastic and friendly. He helped me to choose skis, poles and my daughter’s helmet. When he wasn’t sure about the safety of my boots, he went to his colleague to make sure. They gave me a very detailed explanation.
All of this reminds me of when I took my daughter to pick out her new bike. This is my first time to this store. The clerk also provided enthusiastic and patient service like today. This is a very good store and I will recommend it to my friends.”

We were blown away by the service from Henry
“My partner and I went to skis and bikes to both buy our first pair of skis. We were blown away by the service from Henry. He genuinely was the most patient, meticulous and helpful individual. He spent 4 hours with us fitting us for boots, skis, poles, and helmets. He tailored everything to our experience level. My partner was a beginner, so he really took his time explaining everything to her which meant a lot. We never felt rushed either. Just a genuinely amazing human. Thanks Henry!”

Experience was very personalized
“Amazing customer service! A+ I went into Sporting Life in JUNE looking for ski boots which were on sale. Obviously I did a bunch of research on which ones I wanted, but was very impressed with the knowledge and helpfulness of Wes. Was very nice to be able to talk to someone with a high level of experience and looking to make sure I had the right ski boot. Compared to a “box store”, the experience was very personalized and he took the time to dig a lot deeper into the technical details of how and where I was going to ski — not just the boilerplate ski questions. Will be going back for the final boot fitment, but it’s nice that the “expert” is the one which is helping me, and who will eventually fine tune the boot for my needs. Glad I came here to make the final purchase. Personalized service is hard to find these days. Can’t reiterate enough, great experience!”
