5 Best Prenatal Classes in Toronto That Local Moms Absolutely Swear By

top-prenatal-classes-toronto
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Expertise - We chose prenatal classes led by certified childbirth educators, doulas, or healthcare professionals with proven experience.
  • Pricing and Value - We picked prenatal classes that provide comprehensive education at a fair price, whether budget-friendly or premium.
  • Hands-On Learning - We considered prenatal classes that go beyond lectures, incorporating interactive elements like breathing exercises, labor positions, and demos.
  • Parent Involvement - We highlighted classes that encourage partners to participate, providing valuable support and preparation for both parents.
  • Positive Reviews - We included prenatal classes with strong testimonials from parents who felt confident and prepared after attending.

Over a lovely brunch, my friend, who is expecting, shared a prenatal hiccup. She joined a prenatal class that wasn’t helpful at all—the instructor didn’t explain medical terms, sped through breathing exercises, and didn’t even entertain questions.

Feeling overwhelmed, she decided to join another class. Luckily, this had an instructor who answered her real concerns and left her feeling confident instead of, well, clueless.

Pregnancy is hard enough as it is, so don’t make it harder for yourself by booking just any prenatal class. Choose one of the best in TO that’ll surely have your back and prepare you for all baby-related things!

How much do prenatal classes cost in Toronto?

Prenatal classes in Toronto cost between $100 and $400, depending on the type, length, and provider. Some hospitals offer affordable or even free options, while private classes tend to be pricier.
Online courses can also be a budget-friendly alternative, but many parents prefer in-person sessions for hands-on practice.

Your Baby Academy claims to be trusted by 1 out of 4 women in Canada. After seeing how popular their free prenatal classes are, we’re thinking this might actually be true.

Speaking of which, their Prenatal or Baby-Care class covers baby’s first baths, skin and nail care, umbilical cord attention, and safe sleep tips. As a bonus, they conduct a Live Q&A session to answer any questions you might have.

In addition to Baby-Care, they have other free classes to help prepare you for parenthood. Examples include Breastfeeding Preparation, Baby-Safety, Hypnobirthing, First 6 Weeks at Home, and Introducing Baby to Solids.

One small downside—their classes include a one-hour lunch break, which some find frustrating since it eats into their learning time.

Pros

  • Trusted by 1 out of 4 women in Canada
  • Free Prenatal or Baby-Care class
  • Includes a Live Q&A session
  • Offers other free parenthood prep classes

Cons

  • Long lunch breaks cut into learning time

Best classes we’ve attended so far

“The Baby Academy free classes are the best we’ve attended so far, even compared to some paid ones. The information is presented clearly and directly, and the use of images and demonstrations with dolls is very helpful. Even when the instructors are answering questions, they try to include tips or new information, which keeps that part of the class from feeling repetitive or boring. We ended up buying 2 of their paid courses as well.”

We feel much more informed and prepared

“All the classes my husband and I have taken from the Baby Academy have been incredibly informative and helpful! The instructors are knowledgeable and are easy to understand. As first time parents, we feel much more informed and prepared. Thank you Baby Academy!”

Absolutely worth it for first-time parents

“Amazing class with Effie! I took classes offered by the hospital and it was nowhere near as informative and hands on as Effie’s class. She came to our condo for a private class. Absolutely worth it for first time parents :)”

Amazing, informative, and interactive

“The prenatal class my wife and I took with Effie was amazing, informative, and interactive and we both highly recommend this class for all first-time expecting parents. We walked away with much needed knowledge, confidence and a sense of calmness after taking this class. Effie as an instructor is a 10/10 and her pace was easy to follow and not get overwhelmed.”

Since 2012, Yoga Mamas has been a go-to place for maternal care and wellness, offering everything from fertility support to postpartum recovery.

If you’re on a budget or don’t have the energy to go out (we’ve all been there), check out their free online prenatal classes. These 30-minute evening sessions cover topics like breastfeeding, hypnobirthing, and EFT training.

For a more hands-on experience, try their 2-day weekend in-person childbirth classes. These focus on empowering expectant parents to help them handle newborn care.

As for the space, it has 10 beautiful treatment rooms, a yoga area, and a cozy vibe that makes moms call it their “home away from home.”

Unfortunately, we heard reports of unfriendly and unaccommodating customer service reps—not ideal, especially for those looking for a warm, supportive space.

YogaMamas has been a lifesaver throughout my pregnancy!

“YogaMamas has been a lifesaver throughout my pregnancy! I go to prenatal yoga there, physiotherapy, and am also attending some upcoming classes. They’ve helped me through a lot of discomfort and I’ve met some great people along the way. Highly recommend!”

The instructors are fantastic!

“Highly recommend the classes at Yoga Mamas! I started doing prenatal yoga classes when I was about 25 weeks pregnant and now regularly attend the yoga babies classes. The instructors are fantastic! One unexpected benefit of going to Yoga Mamas is meeting other mums from my neighbourhood. Most of my “mom friends” I met through Yoga Mamas. It’s a great community and a great reason to get out of the house with baby while on maternity leave. The wellness services are also excellent and the staff are wonderful – always welcoming and considerate of your needs. I feel very fortunate that Yoga Mamas is available to me in the east end.”

Saturday: 9 AM – 6 PM

Sunday: 10 AM – 2 PM

Oona Wellness Group has been providing prenatal and pediatric care since 2017.

They have a wide range of prenatal classes—available online and in person. Not only do they cover the basics, but they also discuss unique topics like Aromatherapy for Birth & Postpartum, Cloth Diapering, Motherhood Transitions through Art Therapy, and more.

We like that their classes are small; this means you’ll get personalized attention from instructors. And most of them are either free or low-cost.

In addition to prenatal classes, they also offer other wellness services like acupuncture, chiropractic care, physiotherapy, doula services, and nutrition support.

A highlight is that they offer direct billing. This saves you time and hassle by letting the provider deal with your insurance or employer.

They seem to pretty much have it all, so we were mildly surprised when we heard a few complaints about their prenatal classes. Apparently, some thought they were a bit simplistic, lacking essential info.

Pros

  • Over 8 years of experience
  • Online and in-person prenatal classes
  • Covers unique topics
  • Offers free or low-cost classes
  • Complementary wellness services
  • Direct billing available

Cons

  • Reports of classes lacking important info

The biggest blessing for me during my pregnancy!

“Oona Toronto was the biggest blessing for me during my pregnancy! My baby is now 3mo. I started their prenatal yoga and Pilates classes in my 2nd trimester and kept at it until couple of weeks before my induction. The classes really helped me cope with my changing body, the ever increasing discomfort and body aches, and I believe, helped my body tremendously in preparing for natural labour and delivery. Almost all yoga instructors’ class I tried (and I did try all between Oct and Jan), made sure they create a calm, soothing environment, and specially made effort to answer any questions and encourage all the participants. It was also nice to be surrounded by pregnant women, and learn from them, specially in Emily’s Pilates class (I wanted to come back for post-partum sessions but ended up travelling for an extended time). Specially want to mention Dierdre, Lynn and Maggie- all very sweet and specially good at the prenatal yoga classes they offered. Absolutely must try. I got the monthly unlimited yoga and no regrets!”

Incredible support during my prenatal experiences

“I cannot recommend Oona enough for their incredible offerings and support during my prenatal and postpartum experiences. Whatever I needed, they were there for me! I was able to ask my family and friends for gift cards to Oona for my shower gift with my second son and it was an absolute treasure to have that available to Pelvic physio, massage and even infant massage! Highly recommend and trust their knowledgeable team! Thanks for everything!”

So lucky to have found Riverdale Midwives

“We feel so lucky to have found Riverdale Midwives. From start to finish we felt well taken care of. And we can’t thank our midwife Kathy enough for her compassionate care, which at times, went above and beyond. With her encouraging presence, we were fortunate to have a natural birth at the Birthing Center. We highly recommend Kathy and the whole group at Riverdale midwives.”
