AMB Driving School has won multiple awards over the years that they have been active in the field. They are a Ministry-approved Beginners Driver Education (BDE) course provider, making them an ideal choice for those who are just starting out.

They have four types of courses including virtual classes, which are perfect during the pandemic. In addition to that, students can learn at their own pace, and the learning hours are divided into eight modules.

They also provide in-class learning, which is divided into four days of classes. Each day, the instructor teaches different lessons, all of which will lead to the on-site driving test.

Certificate courses vary in price, by the way – but that’s expected. The cheapest course would cost you $649, while the highest would be $1,030. 

The most expensive course covers 15 hours of driving lessons. This lesson also involves the use of an Instructor’s car for the local G2 Road Test.

AMB Driving School is also available in 12 other cities besides Toronto. One location even includes international cities, though they can only book for an online class.

Globe Driving Academy is another award-winning driving school providing a four-day online course in real-time. They are approved by the Minister of Transportation as a beginner driver course provider.

What we liked best about their online courses is that they’re made to feel as real as realistic as possible. They provide real-time lessons using their specialized e-learning software.

As for their packages, the academy has four different ones with varying prices and hours of in-car lessons. Note that every package involves 20 hours of in-class/online lessons, 10 hours of home-link, and a certification process for MTO.

The Silver Package costs about $654.27 in total and gives students 10 hours of in-car lessons.

The Gold Package totals $839.59 and includes 11 hours of in-car lessons, road test tips, and the use of the school car for a road test.

The Platinum is like an upgraded version of the Gold Package, giving students 15 hours of in-car lessons for a total of  $1,029.43. The same goes for the VIP package that costs a total of $1288.20 with 18 hours of in-car lessons.

Basically, you have more than your share of options here. They do get a bit busy at times, though, so you’d better check availability for the package you want early.

Young Star Driving School won the consumer choice award from both GTA and North York in the year 2019. Like the other driving schools, they are also MTO certified, but what‘s great about them is that they have highly personalized lessons.

You can pick packages, add or remove elements from them, customize your lesson hours, and more. That helps you ensure you get the exact lesson you require for what you’re paying.

For their MTO Certification, they offer three types of packages. Each package has 20 hours of in-class/online lessons and 10 hours home link.

In addition to the basics mentioned, Package 1 includes 10 hours of in-car training plus one-on-one training for $700. Package 2 is similar but you do get to use the school car for a road test.

Package 3 is like an upgraded version of the previous package. The difference is that you get 15 hours of in-care training.

Now, as for their G2 test training, they have seven packages divided into one, two, five, and ten-hour lessons. The shortest one lasts for an hour and costs $56.50 while the longest one is a 10-hour training for $565.00

In addition to these, you also get the option for training plus a road test. The one-hour training with a road test costs $226.00 while the highest 10-hour training and road test totals to $734.50.

Their G test training is also categorized the same way as G2 test training, but they are just slightly higher in cost, naturally.  They have one-hour lessons for $62.15 and if you add a road test to that, it will cost you $265.55.

10-hour lessons for G test training start at $621.50. With a road test, the cost jumps to $824.90.

By the way, if you only need a car for a road test, you can book a car from them too. For the G2 & G road test, it will cost you $169.50.

The Honours Driving School is another great driving school that has 98% passing rate among students. However, their private classes involve in-car lessons only, but they do offer a full 20 hours of in-class instruction for the other classes.

A great thing about them is their amount of packages. Although Honours driving school doesn’t provide as wide of a variety as the other schools, they do still provide at least five packages for G2 and G lessons.

Talking about their MTO certificates, they have 3 packages which include 10, 11, and 15 in-car lessons depending on the package. Each has 20 hours of in-class instruction as well as provided with MTO certification for insurance.

Their cheapest package, however, doesn’t provide a school vehicle, thus you have to bring your own to continue. As for the other two, the school does provide them, but they are slightly more expensive.

The highest cost that you might get is just $1,010.53, which is much cheaper than other schools. And the best thing about it is that their instructors undergo strict guidelines, making sure that each student learns well.

Instead of per-hour lessons, G2 and G preparation is divided into one, two, three, and five lessons. 

All these include the school car for a road test. But there’s also an option for a 90-minute, one lesson for only $60 to $70 plus HST.
