Cherry Street Bar-B-Que earned its fame with its pit-smoked meats cooked over live oak fires. But its menu has more to offer than your typical barbeque joint – there are also sandwiches, burgers, platters, and extras to spice up your meal.
The customer service was honestly okay, straddling good and exceptional at times, although inconsistently. We appreciate the positive approach, which is standard anyway, but at least it’s a nice way to set the mood.
While we have a lot of meals to look into, we’d love to highlight its beef briskets and riblets (which are staples to the restaurant already). It’s the kind of quality we always crave – tender and tough and sufficiently juicy at the right places.
There are other great selections such as their smokey chicken and pulled pork, which is a good alternative if beef isn’t your thing. The rest of the menu was just alright in our opinion, forgettable at best, but at least not terrible.
In terms of seating options, the restaurant does have an outdoor patio, which is naturally a plus for us. It’s also pretty spacious for what it is, allowing customers to enjoy a good breather with their delicious meals.
The challenge though, with this restaurant, is that it’s kind of difficult to contact for advanced bookings. The staff also don’t always help the situation – although we find them really friendly when met in person.
Pros
- Specializes in pit-smoked meats
- Offers various meals other than BBQs
- Extras and platters available
- Outdoor patio open for outdoor dining
- High-quality beef brisket and riblets
- Same-day pickup orders available
Cons
- Issues with making reservations
- Other meals are expensive for their quality

Amazing food and great service
Went yesterday, amazing food! Would definitely go again! Their briskets and chicken was amazing! Great outdoor patio, good service and in my opinion, reasonable pricing. Whilst even though, currently in the middle of a construction zone but the food was worth every cent. – Mohammed Syed
Worth the price and wait
This place has great BBQ, I’m looking forward to going again. Definitely worth the price, and didn’t have to wait long for our food. they have a patio which was great to sit in, part of it was covered to block us from the wind. The staff were friendly and helpful. – Danny Porthiyas

Smoque N’ Bones specializes in its classic Southern style BBQ menu that earned thousands of patrons around Toronto. It also offers other notable side dishes as well as salads, combos, and desserts that we think are worth trying.
Among their wide range of remarkable meals, their briskets and rack of ribs are some of the most popular options. But even the other less famous options won our favor with their generous options and fair price.
Some of our favorite selections include the pulled pork, chicken, and onion rings. The rest of the menu was average at best (tolerable even), but if we had to be frank, they’re not quite up to par with our expectations.
To make up for the relatively basic meals, the restaurant does offer a solid collection of beers. So if you’re one to pair a glass of beer with a delicious, smokey meat, you might want to check this place out for their offerings.
In terms of customer service and location, we don’t have any serious concerns and we in fact like their approach to customers. Everyone’s nice and speedy without being careless, which we consider a benchmark for all restaurants.
The only time we didn’t like its customer response is when placing orders for deliveries as there are times where they don’t even pick up.
Nonetheless, it’s a good BBQ spot despite that. We do recommend dine-in, by the way, especially as the space is very rustic in a nicely charming way.
Pros
- Specializes in Southern style BBQ
- Wide range of extras and shareable meals
- Solid collection of beers
- Speedy customer service

Delicious set of meals
Good Smokey bbq! Specialises in the dryer style of bbq where the Smokeyness definitely comes through much more. One of my favourite pulled pork that didn’t really need any sauce. Mac and cheese and cornbread are good choices for sides. – James A.
Enjoyable dining experience
Great experience and amazing food all around. We arrived early and sat grill-side, which made us appreciate how well the kitchen was run and how passionate the cooks and chef are. The food did not disappoint. Drinks were equally enjoyable. Good for large groups (book ahead). – Yvonne Battista

Hogtown Smoke gained popularity in Toronto with its low and slow cooked meals that customers line up for. This part-food truck business is one for the books if you want meatier servings packed with flavor.
Although we weren’t exactly looking for healthy options in a BBQ restaurant, we do appreciate their salad selections. Actually, their salads are among our favorites in terms of portion sizes and the texture is just phenomenal.
The restaurant has a lot of scene stealers but we have to choose their pig out platters to put into the spotlight. This meal allows you to choose three different types of meat which is great if you don’t want to bore yourself with one kind alone.
As per the dining experience, the atmosphere inside is great and typical of a bustling BBQ joint. But the covered patio was definitely our favorite spot because it’s quiet plus you get the smell of the smokers making your mouth water for more wings.
Customer service wasn’t by any means exceptional but it isn’t terrible either. They’re all very helpful, in our opinion, and we think that they helped lift the mood up in the place because they’re always smiling.
The only thing that didn’t meet our expectations was the consistency of the meals: sometimes amazing, sometimes just fine. Despite this, we still recognize the area as a wonderful place to enjoy savory BBQ at a reasonable price.
Pros
- Great options for salads and sides
- Pig out platters available
- Covered patio for outdoor eating
- Friendly customer service staff

Worth a try
Definitely a must try if you’re in the area. Very good selection of meats, some stuff is really pricey though (worth it definitely). The sandwiches are perfect for 2 and most food items on the menu really sate your appetite. However their isn’t much vegan fare on the menu, but it is a bbq joint so that’s to be expected. – Conor O’Shea
Delicious meal selection
Yes, the food is pricey but it is so worth it! If you like ribs and pulled pork, this is the place to be. The fries and the smoked chicken wings were also delicious and the kids devoured the mac and cheese. I’d suggest sharing a build-your-own meal, plenty of food for two people. – Diana Mancuso

Barque Smokehouse is kind of like the spot you go to if you want to enjoy barbeque with your family. It’s one of the longest-running BBQ restaurants in the city, so we’re sure that you’ve heard about them before.
But if you’re not familiar, the BBQ house is best known for its slow-cooked meats, starting from its briskets to the pulled pork. They also offer their homemade BBQ sauce, which is absolutely phenomenal.
What makes this restaurant different from the rest is the fact they offer a separate menu for kids. We always appreciate unique options like this because we know they can cater to a wide range of potential patrons.
Another thing we’d like to note is how easy it is now to book a reservation online through their website. Fun fact, when we started our review, the restaurant was only open for take outs and deliveries – we’re glad that they’ve opened for dine-in as of writing.
As for their menu, we have nothing but pure praise for its bestsellers and other side dishes. We’re in love with the brisket and pork sandwich and the ribs were just to die for with its savory flavor and mouthwatering aroma.
We just have a tiny bit of concern in the way they package deliveries because they always end up as a disappointment. The meals either come soggy or dry – although surprisingly still tasteful once reheated.

Remarkable tastes of food
Barque Smokehouse was amazing. Our server was superb too. He gave us his favourites and an unbiased opinion on what’s the best menu choices. My party and I got brisket, coleslaw and a pulled pork sandwich. The food tasted remarkable. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking to explore Roncy (Roncesvalles). – Sean Quinlan
Fantastic restaurant
Barque Smokehouse is a fantastic restauraunt for refined BBQ in Roncesvalles Village in Toronto. There’s a large selection of meats – ribs, wings, chicken, pulled pork and on top of the spices selected, their chefs are willing to customize a spice combination to sooth your pallet. – Matt W.

Greenwood Smokehouse got our attention with its laid-back ambiance and exciting menu. In fact, we do think that even vegetarians will enjoy the experience here, even if they can’t chow down on the bestsellers.
Speaking of bestsellers, the restaurant offers the very sought-after brisket as well as baby back ribs and pulled pork. The taste is also fantastic and as good as you’d imagine (even the meat’s texture was tender under each bite).
Certain meals don’t come with side dishes but customers can get extras such as salads, mushroom burgers, and sprouts. To be honest, we love their side dishes the most because not only are they flavorful, they’re also served in generous portions.
What we want to highlight the most about this place is the atmosphere. Unlike most BBQ joints, this restaurant has a more cozy appeal – almost like that of your standard cafes with its layout and arrangements.
The patio is a bit small and is close to the smoker so the smell will really stick to your clothes. Some people love it, some people hate it so we’ll leave it up to you to decide whether that’s a positive thing or not.
Finally, the customer service is great but we did encounter a few issues with disorganization. We also noticed inconsistent food quality because some of the lesser-known dishes were either a hit or miss for us.

- Small patio for outdoor eating
- Catering services available
Cons
- Issues with disorganized staff

The service here is very friendly and food comes at a good speed. The environment is very cozy with its own personality to it. The food is delicious and has the smokey flavours embedded.
